BOULDER, Colo., Oct. 11, 2004 - Rally Software Development, a provider of software development management solutions for Agile teams, today announced The Road to Agile Webinar series, an exclusive series of free Webinars that help software teams succeed with Agile development practices. The Road to Agile Webinar series features presentations from Agile industry luminaries including Dean Leffingwell, Jim Highsmith, Tom Poppendieck and Mike Cohn, who together have helped hundreds of software-driven companies speed delivery of customer value and improve team productivity.
Software teams will learn practical tips and techniques for adopting Agile practices that help their companies win more business by increasing software development agility, responsiveness and productivity. Through live interaction with the presenters, Webinar attendees also have the unique opportunity to get feedback and advice on their own Agile development efforts.
The Road to Agile Webinar series
As part of The Road to Agile series, Rally will host four Webinars during Oct., Nov. and Dec. Each Webinar will feature a one-hour presentation and question and answer period.
Upcoming sessions include:
The first installment of the series, titled "Avoiding the Four Roadblocks to Agile Adoption," takes place Tuesday, Oct. 19 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Mountain) and features industry luminary Dean Leffingwell drawing on his years of coaching to offer practical techniques for initiating Agile software practices. Dean Leffingwell is an entrepreneur, software industry executive and technical author who provides product strategy and business advisory services to software companies. Dean is the inventor of RequisitePro, IBM/Rational's widely adopted requirements management tool. As former Senior VP of Rational Software, Dean was responsible for the introduction of the Rational Unified Process (RUP) and promulgation of the Unified Modeling Language (UML). He is the lead author of Managing Software Requirements: Second Edition: A Use Case Approach, Addison Wesley, 2003. In addition to being an active software team consultant, he's a director and advisor to numerous software and technology companies.
After Leffingwell's presentation on Oct. 19, Rally will present the following speakers and topics as part of The Road to Agile Webinar series:
Thursday, Oct. 28 - 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Mountain)
Tom Poppendieck's talk, "The Agile Customer's Toolkit," addresses how ineffective participation by the business side in refining application requirements is one of the most serious shortcomings of IT today. His Webinar offers tools and practices that end users can use to collaborate with the same flexibility, productivity, and quality that Agile practices afford developers.
Thursday, Nov. 11 - 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Mountain)
Mike Cohn will present "Moving from Test-Last to Test-Driven: Motivation and Strategies." Mike describes how driving your development process with tests can lead to higher quality, better designs, and shorter cycle time; and how test-driven development offers teams more flexibility in dealing with schedule pressure.
Friday, Dec. 3 - 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Mountain)
Jim Highsmith rounds out the series by covering the principles of Agile Project Management (APM) in his presentation "Agile Project Management - Reliable innovation," and show how it excels on projects where new, risky technologies are incorporated; requirements are volatile; time-to-market is critical; and high quality must be maintained.
